Executive Board Meeting Minutes
May 4 2009

Meeting called to order by Todd at 4:30
Minutes: Mace lost last meetings minutes. Motions made at the last meeting:
Mace motions to accept next year’s officers as follows: Chair- Todd Bridigum, First Vice Chair- Jay Gerdin, Treasure- Mike Hanson, Secretary- Bob Renner. Motion carries
Mace motions to send Todd Bridigum to leadership symposium. Motion carries
Treasures Report: Mike to bill Xcel Energy for Stainless seminar. Jay motions to accept report. Motion carries
Website/ Facebook: Paul has made some updates in the software for logos. We will not post advertisers without 1 of 3 things- member on executive board, active student section or payment. Section activity announcements will not be posted until board approves. Upcoming events will continue to be posted. Mike motions $300.00 per year for advertisement in newsletter and link on website. Motion carries. Todd will draw up a letter for advertisers.
SkillsUSA: Very good contest. There were some issues with scoring and 1st place contestant. We will try to find replacement for Mace within the section. We had Chris Hensiak show interest. We should find a replacement by September. Pam motions to give each winner $250.00 with funds to go to SkillsUSA to offset expenses. Mace will contact teachers to let them know we want a request for funds from the student.
Olympic Steel tour: Canceled no flier sent out
Certification Dinner Meeting: Canceled, no time to send flier. Mace motions event chair to do flier. Motion carries. Mace will forward printer contact info, also Hilton Garden Inn info.
Valleyfair Family Day: Flier in mail. No vendors at this time. 10 people signed up so far.
District Conference: June 6th Mesabi Range College. Todd and Mike to be reimbursed as voted on. Limited hotel rooms. Bob Sands to go through sections scholarship apps and return to Mace.
Golf Outing: Chart will do tour and provide some Raffle prizes. They will not do golf balls and tee’s. The golf club can provide these at a reasonable price. Price will remain $95.00. Mike will pick out food. Pam and John will work on ESAB Hole sponsorship. Mace motions to spend up to $1000.00 on raffle prizes. Carries
CWI/ CWS Seminars: All set. Mike will send in registration for section rep.
Ridgewater Foundation Recognition Dinner: John Penaz attended and gave report. It was noted that most schools do this. Mike motions to pay John for mileage (231 mi) at AWS rate. Carries. Mace will draw up a policy for future travel reimbursement.

Presentation by Valley Fair for a family day at the park. Further discussion to follow.
Meeting called to order at 4:50
Minutes: Mace move to approve carries
Treasures Report: WITC cashed check. Mace motions to accept report with ammendment that student memberships paid at BTM be on separate line. Carries
Newsletter: Need by mid March for tour. Mace to check on billing from Copyright. Todd motions trifold rest of year since no advertisers paid. Carries
BTM: Few issues, Time for welds, Coupons ect. Todd to draft letter to St. Cloud Tech in appreciation. Of use of College. Jay to keep library of prints for contest. Mike to send to journal.
Tech Seminar: All set. About 30 paying attendee’s
Skills: Ready to go. Need for judges is getting better. Have about 12.
Plant tour: Tabled
May: Valley Fair. Tabled until next meeting. Weld procedures: Todd to talk to Dwight
Golf Outing: no new info
Districts: June 6th, Mike motions that Mike and Todd to be reimbursed $100.00 for hotel. Carries
CWS/ CWI: no new info
AWS DVD: Todd to order
Section Bylaws: Need subcommittee
Facebook: Dan has section facebook page. He will update with info we get him
Website: Todd motions to pay the $45.00 for Paul to rework website on private server.

Minutes: Past 2 meeting minutes reviewed. Todd motions to accept/ carries
Treasures Report: Mace motions to accept/ carries
Newsletter: Todd to get info to mace. Mace to get newsletter and flier for tech seminar to printer this week.
Website: Mike will put up info when he gets it. Paul checking on private domain and enhancements. Website committee to be: Mike, Paul and Dan
President’s visit: Mace sent info to journal. Vic was well received by schools he visited and at past chair night.
Behind the Mask: Feb 18th Todd to e-mail Pam with questions board has. ie material, consumables, dinner and map. Motion by Mike to make dinner free for all helpers/ carries
Technical Seminar: March 11th All set. Mace will meet with Hennepin tech for final arrangements. Motion to set pricing at $150.00 non members, $125.00 Members and $20.00 for students (includes student membership) carries Mace to get speakers gift not to exceed $100.00
SkillsUSA: Mar 28th St Paul Tech meeting set for Thursday Feb 5th
Tour Olympic Steel: April Need date. Dinner will be on your own
Valley Fair: May We will hold a meeting at Valley Fair.

Treasures Report: WITC New Richmond has not cashed check. Jay motions to accept report. Motion carries
Newsletter: Need to get newsletter out sooner. Todd to do newsletter with help from Mace
Advertising: Mike sent out invoices on 12/ 15/ 08 Advertisers need to make changes to their own adds
Welding Journal: concern over reports not in journal. Mike to be in charge of getting info to national
Welding Certification: December 10 feedback included have questions sent via e-mail to moderator ahead of time/ be sure to do introductions/ PDH/ appreciate the job by Bob Sands
Past Chair night: Flier to go out via e-Mail Mike sent invites Mike motions to make this event free motion carries
Behind the Mask: Feb 9th deadline for registration/ Pam needs to know process so she can get materials/ sub-committee: Jay, Todd, Pam and Bob Sand

Treasures report: $30.00 stop payment from Dunwoody was taken out of account June 2008

Advertisers: Todd to write up billing and get to Mike, Mike to mail after approval, advertisers to send new artwork if required
Website: National updating web site, we should post all new members and award recipients
Open Forum: All set, Need white board, Bob will accept questions via e-mail
President Visit: January 21 2009 Need to get newsletter out. Mace will do this
Behind the Mask: Feb 18 St Cloud Tech Todd to do flier so it can be electronically mailed. Need CWI’s, Jay will arrange these. Mike to pick out prints. Pam needs to make food arrangements.

October 20 2008
Meeting called to order at 4:45
Members present: Todd Bridigum, Bob Sands, Mike Hanson, Mace Harris, Bob Renner, Jay Gerdin and Dan Johnson
Fabtech/ AWS Show: Todd gave the report as the section representative. He did attend quite a few seminars, and also attended the Presidents reception. He had a chance to sign some of his text books at the foundation booth. He will bring a copy for viewing next meeting. He wants to thank the section for sending him as our rep.
Minutes: Todd wanted to amend the report on instructors institute to read: candidates should value the institute instead of highly recommend the institute.
Mike motions to accept minutes with amendment. Motion carries.
Treasures Report: Mike went over treasures report. Received seminar rebates and check from Oxygen Service. It was decided to carry on the books $30.00 stop payment charge for check to Dunwoody for 1 year.
Bob Sands motioned to accept treasures report. Motion carries
Newsletter: Mace has not checked on pricing. He will do so by the next meeting.
Bob Sands, Todd and Mace to work on newsletter.
Pricing for advertisers will be: $250.00 for add in at least 3 newsletters and a banner on web site. $300.00 for add and a link on the web site.
Todd motions to accept price structure. Motion carries
Todd will send the billings as soon as approved by committee
Web Site: Web site has been updated. Mike is working on pictures. Bob Sands will update scholarship page. Mace will update District Directors page.
Mace will check with AWS National on updates to web site features.
Mace motions that executive members get free link on web page as in past. Motion carries.
Scholarships: A total of 9 schools have been mailed checks for $700.00 each.
We do need student contact information for follow up and 1 year student membership in AWS.
Todd will write a proposal for the recipients to give back to the section by promoting welding to their peers.
Events:
November: Olympic Steel tour – Pam (no report)
December: Dinner Meeting Certification – Mace (in process, will have notice for next meeting)
January: Past Chair/ Awards Night – Mace (AWS Presidents visit) January 21 2009
February: Behind the Mask – Pam (St Cloud Tech) GMAW, GTAW and SMAW were proposed. Bob Sands Gene and Mace to come up with prints so Pam can get metal. We need a date.
March: Technical Seminar – Mace and Mike (Stainless steel, Damian Kotecki)
Skills USA contest will be March 28 2008 at St Paul Tech. Mace is working with Lincoln Electric to bring the contest up to date with National contest.
April: Open
May: Bob Renner to check with Valley Fair for a group event
June: Golf outing New Prague Golf Club
New Business: Mace motioned to transfer $10,000.00 from the foundation to a section name scholarship fund. Motion carries
Mace will get paperwork from National to get this done.
Bob Sands motioned: scholarship money to come from proceeds of annual golf outing with any additional funds to be approved by committee on an annual basis. Motion carries
Bob Renner motioned to get a plaque for Oxygen Service’s continued support. Motion carries
Mace motioned to bring Bob Renner, Jay Gerdin and Dan Johnson to the executive committee. Motion carries

September 15 2007
Members Present: Todd Bridigum, Mike Hanson, Bob Sands, Pam Lesemann, John Penaz and Mace Harris
Meeting called to order by Todd at 4:30
Instructors Institute: Todd reported that this was a very well run program with excellent materials and hand outs. He highly recommends this to future candidates.
New section officers:
Todd Bridigum – Chairman
Bob Sands – First Vice Chairman
Mike Hanson – Treasurer
Mace Harris – Secretary
Newsletter: After much discussion it was decided that the section would send a maximum 3 full newsletters, with separate mailings for section events.
Bob Sands will coordinate the printing and mailing. Mace will check pricing with various printers.
Todd will get the committee pricing for advertisers, with an emphasis on the section web site.
Mike Hanson will be more diligent in the upkeep of the web site. Remembering that he can only post what he receives.
Fabtech/ AWS Show: Mace motioned to send Todd as the section representative to Las Vegas per section policy, with any amendments made via e-mail by Friday September 19. Motion Carries
Treasurers Report: Todd presented the treasures report. Mike motioned to accept. Motion Carried Todd motioned to reimburse Mace for his expense of $546.86 at the district conference for the dinner. Motion carries
Scholarships: Behind the mask made $1935.00 and the golf outing made $4378.00 for a total of $6313.00. Mace motioned that the section round this to $6400.00 for scholarships. Motion carries Oxygen Service raised $386.00 at their open house. They may match this. It is designated for section scholarships. Whether this happens or not, Mace has suggested that the section recognizes OSC for their continued support. Tabled for next meeting. Mace brought up the issue of the funds in the foundation. He suggested that the section use $10,000.00 to start a section named scholarship fund. After much discussion it was tabled for the next meeting. Bob motioned to reinvest interest in the foundation. Motion carries
