Bob Sands has worked in the welding field since 1973 when he started his career at Butler manufacturing. He has worked as a welder, welding instructor, supervisor and currently a position as a welding engineer/supervisor at Production engineering Corporation. He has been involved in writing weld procedures for FMC/United Defense/BAE Systems and PEC. He has also worked with several vendors in this area while with FMC. He has been an active member of the local AWS section for the past 15 years and is a 23 year member of the AWS.

Todd Brigidum took his interests in art and literature from Hamline University and decided to take a different path in his “graduate” studies by pursuing welding and metal fabrication as a career. Upon reestablishing the Welding and Metal Fabrication program at Minneapolis Community and Technical College, Todd immediately saw the usefulness of his liberal studies in the development of course curriculum and training materials for companies and institutions across America. This culminated in his first published book, How To Weld, which is currently being used by educational institutions across the country.

Dwight Affeldt has been involved in various aspects of the welding industry for more than 25 years. He is a graduate from the Central Lakes College Welding Program, the Ridgewater College Nondestructive Testing Program and hold a BES degree from St. Cloud State University. Dwight has experience in the utility industry, including fossil, nuclear, and refuge derived fuels including pipeline and natural gas distribution. he has also worked structural welding activities and government contracts. In addition to his many welding certifications Dwight is a Certified Welding Inspector from the American Welding Society and hold several Level III certifications from the American Society for Nondestructive Testing.

The PDF of this release is on the front page of the National Site.

American Welding Society
Introduces New AWS Product Line

Trendy Gear Now Available for Purchase

MIAMI, FL., May 14, 2009 – American Welding Society (AWS) members can now show their pride in the Society by purchasing the hottest gear in the welding industry. The AWS has launched its new AWS product line which gives members the opportunity to purchase American Welding Society shirts, hats, accessories and more at the AWS E-store. All of the products are branded with the American Welding Society logo.

“We’re very excited about the new AWS product line,” said Cassie Burrell, AWS Deputy Executive Director. The line is a great way for members to show their pride in the AWS whether it’s by sporting casual and trendy clothing that we’ve added to the collection or showing off their professional affiliation with an AWS-branded briefcase or golf accessories.”

The American Welding Society partnered with LogoDogz, a leading supplier in the embroidery, screen printing and promotional products industry to create the AWS product line. The line includes more than 20 products for both men and women and make great gifts for friends, colleagues and anyone who wants to display their relationship to the AWS. The clothing, hats and accessories are available for purchase at www.logodogz.net/aws/store and range in price from $12- $56.

About AWS
The American Welding Society (AWS) was founded in 1919 as a multifaceted, nonprofit organization with a mission to advance the science, technology and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes including brazing, soldering, and thermal spraying. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, and led by a volunteer organization of officers and directors, AWS serves more than 50,000 members worldwide and is composed of 22 Districts with 250 Sections and student chapters. For more information, visit the society’s website at http://www.aws.org and click on “Pressroom.”

I checked the new gear out, and I saw instantly why they’re excited: the new apparel and specialty items feature the AWS logo and are well designed.

Check out the basic tee:

Don’t like blue? There are 20 other colors to shoose from, ranging from Pebble to Cardinal to Stonewashed Green.

Then there’s the hats, like this one:

Available colors are Black (Grey Flames), Red (Black Flames) and White (Black Flames). A purchaser also has the option of a black AWS logo, white AWS logo, or tonal (matching the flame color.)

There is also business-style apparel, as this classic ladies oxford shows:
